October Meeting

We've got two speakers lined up for October 4th. Stephen Gibberd will be giving us an insight into his experience in using Erlang in communications and Clinton McKinnon from Obelisk Systems will be sharing the story of how Obelisk systems went from Building Robot arms and CubeSat to teaching Python to nearly 2000 students.

We'll have free pizza thanks to BMT Tax Depreciation Quantity Surveyors and prizes thanks to Saphi.

Stephen Gibberd returned to Newcastle last year after working in Cambodia, East Timor and Afghanistan for 22 years, in telecommunications, UNDP and UN peace keeping missions. Stephen Gibberd will be giving us an insight into his experience in using Erlang in communications,

Clinton is an Electrical Engineer who is currently working at Obelisk Systems to help teachers teach Python and STEM skills in the class room with the StarLAB coding and Robotics Platform. Clinton will be sharing the story of how Obelisk systems went from Building Robot arms and CubeSat to teaching Python to nearly 2000 students."BIO and Outline from the Clinton of StarLABs

Obelisk Systems is an Australian STEM education start-up that is teaching young Australians the skills they will need in a way that is both interesting and relevant. Currently, in over 50 schools across Australia, the StarLAB teaches more than just coding and robotics but also mathematics and scientific literacy that is needed to succeed in STEM. This talk will cover how StarLAB is being used in combination with our online learning materials to teach Critical thinking, problem-solving and coding skills through problem-based learning that will give your students and children the edge in tomorrow's workforce.
